Hearing loss is a well-known complication of Congenital Syphilis (CS) infection. However the effect of CS in the antibiotic era, where the majority of cases are likely to have been identified and treated during pregnancy, is unknown. Due to this lack of evidence, guidelines for audiological management are unclear.

We are interested in current practice amongst consultants from BAPA and BAAP for testing children with CS for hearing loss and follow up of these patients. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on your current practice in this area. Thank you in advance.
