Published in July 2026, this guidance sets out the processes, standards and expectations for delivering safe, high quality hearing review, recall and reassessment within paediatric audiology services in England.

It provides a consistent national approach so that services can mitigate risk, reduce harm and support families through every stage of the review, recall and reassessment pathway.
This guidance supplements the Paediatric Hearing Services Improvement programme
operational guidance and is supported by additional resources on the Futures Collaboration Platform.

It has been developed by subject matter experts (SMEs) with experience in the
process, with input from the Paediatric Hearing Services Improvement (PHSI) programme
Clinical Reference Group and parents, supported by (NDCS).

For the purposes of this guidance, the terms baby and child are used interchangeably, and
review, recall and reassessment activity applies to babies, children and young people.

The guidance is available via the NHS Futures site (login needed), or can be viewed as a PDF below.
